My story
Hello, my name is Hana and thank you for visiting my website.
I was born and raised in Slovakia, but my free spirit has always dreamed about wandering to unknown places and faraway countries. After finishing university in Slovakia and briefly experiencing the corporate life, together with my husband we decided to set off to the absolutely opposite part of the world and moved to Australia. We lived, studied and worked in Sydney for almost five and during this time we travelled as much as our schedules would allow us.
After leaving Australia, we spent a couple of months on the road in South-East Asia, followed by a few weeks at home in Slovakia. During this time, we have made yet another life-changing decision to move to Japan. The process of obtaining the initial Working Holiday visa was quite swift and thus since September 2019, we have been based in Osaka.
My blog
In June 2018, I decided to start my own travel blog to write about our adventures and life in Australia. What started as a sole need for creative escape from my daily routine, became my passion project where, up to this day, I still share insight tips about destinations from all over the world.
With this online platform, I want to provide others not only with all the necessary information about certain destinations, but also fun facts, best places where to eat, what souvenirs to buy etc. But most of all, my aim is to inspire others not to be afraid to step out of their comfort zone and try to live abroad at least for a short period of time.

Since I’ve started Hana’s Travel Journal, I have collaborated with several different websites and my work has been published on multiple international platforms, such as We Are Travel Girls, Dame Traveller or Darling Escapes. At the moment I am a writer for Osaka.com where I contribute monthly with insightful tips about Osaka and its surroundings.
I put an immense amount of research and thought into each article I write and I am constantly working on broadening my portfolio.
